Key Product Features
Warmer, quieter, and future-proof. Triple glazing is no longer just for Scandinavia; it is fast becoming the standard for energy-efficient homes across Hampshire.
With energy prices rising and building regulations tightening, investing in triple glazing is one of the smartest decisions a homeowner can make. By adding a third pane of glass and a second argon-filled cavity, we create a window that is up to 40% more thermally efficient than standard double glazing.
Passive House Ready
Achieve ultra-low U-values of 0.8 W/m²K, meeting the 2025 Future Homes Standard today.
Eliminate Cold Spots
The internal glass stays significantly warmer, removing the “chill factor” near windows.
Enhanced Security
A third pane of glass and internal glazing bead makes these units incredibly difficult to break.
The Specification: 44mm vs. 28mm
Thermal Performance (U-Values)
Not all triple glazing is the same. For maximum efficiency, the gap between the panes is just as important as the glass itself.
The Gold Standard: 44mm Units
Our premium option uses a massive 44mm sealed unit. This allows for two optimum 16mm cavities filled with Argon gas. This specification fits perfectly into our Sheerline Prestige, Residence 9, and Residence 7 systems, delivering centre-pane U-values as low as 0.5 W/m²K.
The Slimline Option: 28mm Units
Some window profiles cannot accept a 44mm unit. For these, we offer a 28mm triple glazed unit using Krypton gas. Krypton performs better in smaller gaps than Argon, allowing us to achieve excellent thermal performance (U-value 0.60) even in a slimmer profile. Beware this comes with a hefty price tag.
VISIT OUR GALLERYComfort You Can Feel
Triple glazing does more than just save money; it changes how your home feels. Because the internal pane of glass remains much warmer than double glazing, you no longer get “convection draughts”—the uncomfortable feeling of cold air falling off the window surface.
A chain is only as strong as its weakest link. In a window, that weak link is often the spacer bar—the strip that separates the panes of glass.
We use the Swisspacer Ultimate on some of our range, widely regarded as the world’s best warm-edge spacer. Unlike old aluminium spacers which conduct cold, the Swisspacer is made of a composite material that stops heat escaping at the edge of the sealed unit. This improves energy efficiency by up to 20% and virtually eliminates condensation around the edge of the glass.
A Note on Sound: While triple glazing is primarily designed for heat, the extra pane and cavity do disrupt sound waves. It will dampen general neighbourhood noise better than standard double glazing, though for extreme traffic noise, we usually recommend our specialized acoustic secondary glazing.

Why Does Condensation Appear on the Outside?
New owners of triple glazing sometimes panic when they see dew on the outside of their windows on crisp autumn mornings. Don’t worry—this is actually proof your windows are working perfectly!
Because the unit is so efficient at stopping heat from escaping your home, the outer pane of glass stays cold (matching the garden temperature). This causes morning dew to form on it, just like it does on your car or grass. It means the heat is staying inside where it belongs, rather than leaking out to warm up the external glass.

📚 Triple Glazing Knowledge Hub
Before you buy, get the facts from our expert guides on costs, regulations, and comparisons:
Improved Security
Improved security over double glazed windows, due to the extra pane of toughened glass. Internally glazed windows offer added security and prevents the removal of the glass from the outside.
Sound Insulation
There is no major gain having triple glazing with three equal thicknesses of glass. The best solution would be with a acoustic centre pane, please enquire for further information.
Heat Insulation
44mm or 40mm sealed units filled with two cavities of argon gas. Argon gas is heavier than air, so acts as an insulator
Prevent Cold-Bridging
Warm edge spacer bars made from a composite material to stop the cold-bridge across the unit.
Low-emissivity Glass
Two coatings of low-emissivity glass (Low E). This is a microscopically thin coating that stops the heat from your house going outside.
Plenty of Options
Available in the Sheerline Prestige, Residence 9 and Residence 7 systems as a 44mm unit.
Triple Glazing Prices Andover & Hampshire
Triple glazing can be more expensive than double glazing, but as a comparison, they do not add much more than 20% to the double glazed costs. This would work out at about £150 on an average size window.
While we can offer a rough price for our triple glazing, we would happily provide a complete bespoke quotation for our glazing services in Winchester and installation. Contact us using the online contact form; our friendly sales team will gladly help.
Frequently Asked Questions
Will triple glazing cause overheating in summer?
This is a common myth. While triple glazing retains heat in winter, the extra pane and coatings actually reduce “Solar Gain” (the heat from the sun entering the room) compared to double glazing. This helps keep your home cooler during hot summer spells.
Is it much more expensive than double glazing?
It typically costs around 20% more than high-end double glazing (roughly £150 extra per average size window). However, given the energy savings and future-proofing against regulations, the long-term value often outweighs the initial cost.
Are smaller triple glazed units available?
Yes. We can offer 28mm triple glazed units filled with Krypton gas. This is ideal for systems that cannot accept the wider 40mm or 44mm units, or for customers who prefer a traditional bead detail.
Is it heavy? Will my hinges break?
Triple glazed units are heavier, but KJM uses heavy-duty “Mega Egress” hinges designed specifically to carry the extra weight. We ensure the hardware matches the glass specification for long-term durability.
Does triple glazing reduce traffic noise?
Yes, the extra pane of glass creates an additional barrier against sound, making it quieter than standard double glazing. However, for homes on extremely busy roads, we recommend upgrading to acoustic laminated glass within the unit for the best possible noise reduction.
