What's Inside Matters: The Solid Timber Core
We offer market leading Solidor and Comp Door composite door systems.
Not all composite doors are built the same. While many competitors use a foam-filled core, KJM supplies doors with a premium 48mm solid timber core. This solid wood heart provides superior rigidity, proven to be stronger and more secure than standard foam-filled doors.
It also offers excellent thermal efficiency, naturally insulating your home to help lower heating bills. Plus, it passes the “knock test”—sounding and feeling like a solid traditional door, not a plastic one.
Stops Fading & Warping
Advanced Skin Technology
Worried about your dark blue or black door fading in the sun? Our premium ranges feature advanced heat-reflective outer skins. Unlike standard uPVC skins that absorb heat, these materials are engineered to reflect harmful UV rays away from the surface.
This is critical for south-facing properties. Standard doors can warp or bow when they get too hot, making them hard to lock. Our premium finishes keep the surface temperature lower, protecting the core and ensuring your colour stays vibrant for years.

A door slab is only as good as the frame it sits in. Our composite door systems utilise industry-leading multi-chambered frames with high-performance seals. This extra barrier offers maximum weatherproofing, providing superior resistance to driving rain compared to standard single-seal frames.
The advanced sealing also helps block out road noise and ensures air tightness, stopping those annoying winter drafts at the floor level.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much does a composite front door cost?
Prices vary depending on the style, glass choice, and hardware. While composite doors are an investment compared to basic uPVC, they offer superior longevity (30+ years). A typical installation ranges from £1,400 to £2,200 fitted including VAT depending on specification. Contact us for a precise, no-pressure quote.
How secure are KJM composite doors?
Extremely. Our doors are fitted with the ABS 3-Star Diamond Grade Cylinder as standard, which features active snap protection. Combined with a multi-point hook locking system and a solid timber core, they are virtually impossible to force open. In fact, if a burglar snaps our lock to enter, ABS will pay you £2,000. See our top 5 security features.
Are composite doors better than uPVC doors?
Yes — typically composite doors are stronger, more secure, thicker, and better insulated than standard uPVC panels. They also tend to look more like real timber and have a longer lifespan. uPVC is cheaper, but composite usually offers better overall performance.
Do composite doors fade over time?
Cheap foam-filled doors can fade, but KJM doors use advanced CoolSkin technology. This heat-reflective outer layer is engineered to withstand UV rays and minimize heat absorption, keeping your door looking vibrant for decades—even in black or dark blue. Read the truth about sun damage here.
How long do composite doors last?
A high-quality composite door typically lasts 25–35 years. The GRP skin, solid core, and reinforced frame are designed for long-term durability with minimal maintenance. As with all things in life you get what you pay for and foam-filled doors are always cheaper than solid ones.
What maintenance do they require?
Very little. Unlike timber, they never need sanding or painting. We recommend wiping the door slab with warm soapy water every 3-4 months and lubricating the moving parts (hinges/locks) with light oil twice a year. Never use abrasive cleaners or pressure washers. See our cleaning schedule here.
