Residence 9 (R9) windows combine the appearance of traditional timber windows with the low maintenance, security and thermal performance of modern uPVC.

Designed to replicate the proportions and detailing of 19th-century flush sash timber windows, Residence 9 is particularly suited to period properties and traditional homes. Its heritage appearance can also make it an option for some properties in conservation areas, subject to local planning and heritage requirements.

The 100mm-deep, nine-chamber profile can accommodate 28mm double glazing or 44mm triple glazing, with the latter capable of achieving an overall window U-value of 0.8 W/m²K in the specification described on this page.

Installed by KJM Group across Hampshire and surrounding areas, Residence 9 can be customised with heritage colours, authentic ironmongery, Georgian detailing and different glazing options.

 Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Appointment made for a faulty locking mechanism to be fixed on a double glazed window. This was fixed within 30 minutes of the engineer arriving. Service was quick and efficient.
The only downside to the whole process was that we were given a time of mid-morning and the engineer arrived at 8:55 so a little embarrassing as we were not up thinking of a time of around 10.

Residence 9 Multi Chambered Window

Residence 9 has a 100mm-deep, nine-chamber profile designed specifically to combine the appearance of a traditional flush sash timber window with the performance of a modern high-performance window system.

The increased profile depth provides the space required to accommodate larger glazing units, including 44mm triple glazing, while the CEN A wall thickness and additional screw-retention chambers provide increased strength and support around the hardware.

With a 44mm Argon-filled triple-glazed unit, Residence 9 can achieve an overall window U-value of 0.8 W/m²K. With a 28mm double-glazed unit, the stated overall window U-value is 1.2 W/m²K. The exact performance will depend on the glazing and window specification selected.

Triple glazing with Residence 9

Triple glazing uses three panes of glass separated by two sealed cavities. The additional pane and cavity can improve thermal insulation and help create warmer internal glass surfaces compared with standard double glazing.

Residence 9 is designed to accommodate the additional size and weight of a 44mm triple-glazed unit, making it possible to combine a traditional heritage appearance with high levels of thermal performance.

Hand Finished Ironmongery Options

The joints of our R9 window are hand crafted and combines the repeatability of the modern machining process with the eye of a craftsman. You can personalise your Residence 9 windows with a choice of handles. The monkey-tail and pear drop designs were popular designs of the period. If your room is more contemporary you can also specify more modern finishes like Chrome, Brass or a Pewter Patina.

With your Residence 9 window, you can specify traditional butt hinges to maintain original features. Modern windows often lack this character as the hinges are hidden. While early Residence 9 windows relied on complex mechanical jointing and heavy glass bonding to replicate a 19th-century mortice and tenon joint, Timberweld revolutionises this process. It cleverly fusion-welds the unseen internal chambers for robust strength while leaving the straight-cut, timber-effect edges perfectly visible on both the inside and outside. Because this innovative method completely removes the need for structural glass bonding, the window frames are significantly lighter and easier for installers to fit and adjust for perfect sightlines. Best of all, if a glass pane ever breaks, it can be quickly replaced just like a standard uPVC window, saving you from the immense cost and hassle of having to replace the entire sash.

Residence 9 vs Residence 7

Residence 9 and Residence 7 are both flush casement systems from the Residence Collection, but they have different profile depths and proportions.

Residence 9 uses a deeper 100mm profile and is designed to closely replicate traditional 19th-century flush sash timber windows. It is particularly suited to heritage and period properties where authentic proportions and detailing are important.

Residence 7 uses a 75mm profile and offers a slightly slimmer alternative while retaining the flush casement appearance.
